The desire to build a car came again in April, so I decided to sell my
Civic Type R to free up some funds. I had just been given a company
Fiesta to run about in so I didn't really need the Civic.
April - July this year was spent researching all the different types of
kit cars available. I had always liked the look of the Caterhams but
these were well out my budget. I went to the Stoneleigh kit car show
after seeing the MEV Exocet online as this car his seemed perfect….cheap too.
It wasn’t until I saw it in the flesh that I changed my mind about this
car (I thought it looked a bit like a boat with wheels).
More hours researching online led me to the MK Indy. What an
awesome looking car, and far cheaper than the Westfield and Caterham. I
visited the MK Factory and spoke to Danny about the cars, engines and various
options for the cars. I also went with
my dad to see Danny racing at Mallory Park.
My dad will be letting me use his spare garage for the build so thought
it would be good to show him what I was planning. He seemed more interested than expected which
was nice.
I have found reading various blogs and build diaries to be very helpful so
thought I would try and make one, not only for my own record but to possibly
help anyone else out there who is building a car. The whole process will be a learning
experience for myself as I have got little experience working with cars (I have
changed pads and discs before, that is it) and zero experience with bikes.
The inspiration!
